MARK

Created to help young adults with mental illness, the MARK project emerges as a revolutionary breakthrough in self-help technology. The MARK application takes on the persona of the late Mark de Roziere, who took his own life in 2013 as a result of depression. He is remembered for his outgoing personality and uplifting words of endearment.

Within the application, Mark guides the user to recovery through various interactive activities, such as meditation and journaling. Along the way, the user is encouraged by Mark and given suggestions to work through rough situations. As this is something that would be individualized, it is ultimately the user that controls the application and taps into their own subconscious through communication with Mark.

In addressing one’s own subconscious, one will become self- aware. With this awareness, the individual can begin to accept their thoughts or actions and release self-doubt or self-stigmatization. This ultimately empowers the individual, allowing them to confidently voice their experiences or beliefs.
Building such confidence allows for the individual suffering from mental illness to communicate with their community and speak out about the overall stigma surrounding the topic of mental illness.
